Unicorn Up-lines? Do they exist?

Find a unicorn upline to follow in your MLM journey

One of the biggest reasons why new distributors struggle, give up, and don’t get the experience they expect is because they don’t put enough effort in evaluating the company before joining it.

I want to save you from that mistake.

There are four Ps you must consider before joining a company: People, Product, Pay plan, and Process.

Most people join a company without a fair shake of evaluating the people involved. They join without even getting to know the names of the owners, their background story, and experience in the industry.

Most people join a company because their friend told them about it or because they liked the product.

A smaller pool of people pull a full understanding of the pay plan.

And even a smaller number of people inquire about the process and people.

Most people join without ever getting a full view of the people with who they are entering into this new partnership.

More than often they start without a fair shake of evaluating the people involved. They join without even getting to know the names of the owners, their background story, and experience in the industry. They even join without even knowing the people involved in their up-line chain of solution.

Their interaction and experience with the company is often limited and defined by their direct sponsor and if they’re lucky, their sponsor’s sponsor.

I don’t know why you are currently evaluating an MLM company.

Maybe you want to get involved to create an extra stream of income outside of what you do.

Maybe you want to change your career altogether and become a professional networker.

Maybe you’re just wanting to learn more about the industry, elevate your understanding and maybe even save a friend from making a bad decision by joining the wrong company.

Whatever your motivation for wanting to learn how to properly evaluate network marketing companies, you want to take into account a lot more than just the product and the pay plan.

What makes you successful in the industry is ultimately YOU, but there are certainly advantages you want to consider and disadvantages you want to avoid.

The biggest blessing of the network marketing industry can also be its biggest problem.

Most people are recruited by average people.

The reason this is a good thing is that it proves the philosophy of network marketing where average people can make above average incomes in MLM.

The biggest blessing of the industry is that ANYONE can start a home based business in MLM and start sharing the business opportunity and products to build a team of distributors and make incredible part time or full time incomes.

The biggest problem is that because ANYONE can do it, everyone assumes they can do it WITHOUT having to learn new skills.

Like anything that has the potential to pay big money, you want to up level your skill sets to match the income you want to make.

Remember, no one is a unicorn expert in their first week, first month, or even their first year in any industry or profession. Expertise comes with skill, effort, experience, and time.

Studies have shown that in order to become a world class expert in any subject requires 10,000 hours.

You can hit the 10,000 hour expert mark in network marketing and turn into a unicorn upline yourself minimum in 5 years, and that is if you are working full time on your business 8hrs a day, 5 days a week, for a period of 5 years.

But what is great about network marketing is that you don’t have to become an expert or work full time to start making money. You can make money part time as you pave your way to becoming an expert and transition into being full time over the next 10 or 15 years.

Usually people begin their journey in network marketing by an invitation from someone who themselves is either brand new or relatively new to the industry. They join with a sponsor who is still putting the pieces together themselves.

Most new people to the industry typically identify their sponsor as their one and only main up-line. But unless you are at the 2nd level of the company in the genealogy tree, then you have more than one up-line to look up to and learn from.

Most new people assume that the sponsor who signed them up is the person they are working with forever even if their sponsor may be less committed, less motivated, less coachable, and less willing to play the game than themselves.

Most often this sponsor is their only connection to the company and in most cases they never even meet anyone in their up-line chain of solution who is a unicorn expert, has industry experience, is making a full time income, or is leading and building an organization on a professional level…

While some people follow their friend/sponsor company to company to company, for most people the thought of getting to know who are the people in their up-line chain as a viable assessment tool to join or not doesn’t cross their mind.

So do unicorn up-lines exist?

If your search hunt begins, you will find them :)

Stay tuned for part 2 next!

Till next time,

Charles
